Chris Samul is a Junior from Detroit, Michigan. At Cranbrook Kingswood High School, Chris was a two sport athlete, competing in swimming and crew. He competed three consecutive years at the Michigan State Championships in specialties 200IM and 500 Free. As a high school rower, Chris came in third at scholastic Midwests and fourth at the Michigan State Championships in a pair (2-). Chris currently rows for the Detroit Boat Club in the single (1x), competing at Club Nationals and Grand Rapids Regatta. As a novice at BC, Chris made the first novice boat, defeating URI, UNH, UMass, and RPI in duels. The crew earned medals at the Knecht Cup (Silver) and New England Rowing Championships (Gold). As a sophomore, Chris earned a seat in the first varsity boat which won match races against URI, UMass, WPI, and Fordham. The Crew also took fourth in the San Diego Crew Classic, Fifth at NERC, and competed in the Grand Final at the American Collegiate Rowing Association Championships. His favorite quotation is, "Nobody said it was going to be easy..."
